I found myself skimming some bits. Even while he was alive, Baum was styled as "the Royal Historian of Oz" to emphasize the concept that Oz is an actual place. Alleyn, along with his artist wife, Agatha Troy (who is to paint a portrait of the singer), journey to a remote island hideaway where murder no surprise quickly occurs. Otherwise, the book's not half bad, and has a lot of potential if the structure, pacing, and mechanics are all hammered out. Witherington simply states that the depiction Da Vinci painted is a common portrayal of what the beloved male disciple looked like, and has nothing to do with Magdalene. He will stroke its fur and pat its bum and put it to bed. Emotional and heart wrenching. I had this book in my kindle library for quite some time before I opened it. With candor and a good dose of humor, Hodum recreates all the sights, smells, and sounds of Colombia.
